The Bay Area K-16 Collaborative is working with pioneering employers to create a highly-effective talent development environment for the region. The collaborative will accelerate pathway development and expansion in three sectors key to the Bay Area economy: Education, Engineering and Healthcare with attention to multidisciplinary STEM components in each sector. BECOME A PARTNER

You can become a partner for as many of the opportunities that work for your organization, ranging from light-lift activities such as hosting worksite visits and guest speaking to deeper engagement such as internships and apprenticeship. The following five opportunities seek to align with employers’ internal DEIA, recruiting, and community engagement priorities and bandwidth.

Design Partner

K-16 Collaborative Design Partners help to shape their own workforce, ensuring that skills students learn in the classroom align with current industry competencies.

  • Curriculum Development: Join a subregional or college/university-specific advisory body to co-create new and newly-customized courses and career pathways

Career Awareness Partner

As Civil Rights leader Marian Wright Edelman famously said, “You can’t be what you can’t see.” K-16 Collaborative Career Awareness Partners help high school, community college and university students build awareness of the incredible variety of careers available across the STEM, Healthcare and Education sectors.

  • Customized College Recruiting: host an employer information-session day

  • Scale: participate in a career fair 

  • Events: invite and sponsor students to attend an industry event

Career Exploration Partner

K-16 Collaborative Career Exploration Partners offer students opportunities to connect directly with professionals in ways that ignite their passion for learning and allow them to practice the knowledge and skills they are gaining in the classroom.

  • Invite students to speak at an industry event

  • Guest Speakers: give an interactive career or content-specific guest talk to a classroom  

  • Worksite Visit: host students at your company for a tour, speaker session, and networking or mentoring opportunity

Career Preparation Partner

K-16 Career Preparation Partners work with students to prepare them for the workplace through employer or faculty-led programming.

  • Project-Based Learning: provide a project to a project-based learning class  for students to complete under faculty guidance

  • Internship: hire a K-16 Collaborative student as a paid intern for a minimum of 8 weeks

  • Apprenticeship: hire a K-16 Collaborative student as an apprentice

  • New Graduate Hiring: hire a 2024-2026 graduate of a K-16 Collaborative community college or university
